Who are we?
BEAM is a student association uniting all master’s and bachelor’s students studying biomedical engineering at Ghent University and the VUB.
We try to create friendships among our students and establish a direct link between students and companies in these biomedical fields:
What do we do?
Meet your future engineer or find the job of you dreams
Our Industry Day offers biomedical engineering students the chance to connect informally with companies in the field. At the same time, it provides companies with the opportunity to meet talented students who could be ideal candidates for internships or graduate positions.
Present your company or discover the biomedical workfield
Our Company Day gives students a glimpse into the daily life of a biomedical engineer. It’s also a chance for companies to showcase their work, share their mission, and highlight what makes their organization a great place to build a career.
Travel with us to a biomedical company abroad
Since 2023, BEAM has organized an annual international trip abroad, combining a visit to a leading biomedical company with a city trip. This experience allows students to build lifelong friendships while gaining valuable insight into the global side of biomedical engineering.
Explore a biomedical engineer’s life
Each year, BEAM also organizes visits to biomedical engineering companies across Belgium. These excursions may include tours of production sites, R&D departments, exhibition areas, and more, giving students an in-depth look at the industry in action.
Broaden your knowledge
Guest speakers including doctors, professors, and biomedical engineers from startups and large companies, share insights into their daily work and discuss specific topics related to their professional experience.
Interact with fellow students
BEAM organizes a variety of social activities throughout the year to help students connect and enjoy their time during their studies. From a cocktail evening and a quiz to sports events and a Belgium Evening, fun and great memories are guaranteed!
