Vacancy - Developer Position

Developer Position

Project Description

We are looking for a Developer with an MSc or Postdoc in Imaging Physics, Engineering, Biomedical Imaging, or Computer Sciences for a project to develop AI imaging solutions for a novel preclinical radiation & imaging research platform.

What Are We Looking For?

Physics/Engineering Researcher and Software Developer

We are looking for a dynamic co-worker, preferably a recent graduate with a MSc degree in physics, engineering, biomedical physics, or computer sciences. Candidates with a relevant PhD will also be considered. Ideally, you have knowledge of x-ray imaging systems, advanced AI skills, and computer programming. The ideal candidate should also:

  • Be excited about working in a young R&D company in close collaboration with the academic world and other biomedical companies.
  • Have an excellent study record and be willing to work in a highly motivated small team.
  • Be willing to relocate to the region around Maastricht (close to Germany and Belgium).
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken), but knowledge of Dutch is not required.
  • EU applicants will be given priority.

Which Project Do We Offer?

The project, ACACIA, co-funded by the EU EUROSTARS program, aims to extend an existing radiation research platform for preclinical cancer studies with small animals. Your role will involve developing software to improve x-ray CT resolution, noise, and imaging dose to specimens. You will also work on further development of AI deep learning models for automatic contouring of anatomical structures in rodents for cancer research. Additionally, you will provide support to customers using treatment planning software for rodent irradiation.

The project involves collaboration with SmART Scientific Solutions (Maastricht), Ludwig Maximilian University (Munich), and the Maastro Clinic (University of Maastricht).

Who Are We?

SmART Scientific Solutions BV is a Dutch biomedical research and development company founded in 2015. We specialize in radiation dose calculations and imaging, and we are a world leader in precision image-guided irradiation for preclinical studies. Our company is based on the Maastricht Brightlands Campus, and we collaborate closely with Maastricht University.

What Do We Offer?

  • Initially a 12-month contract in an innovative environment, with potential extension or permanent position.
  • Starting salary between €3000 and €3500 gross per month, depending on experience.
  • 8% vacation pay, 4 weeks vacation, and 6 additional fixed vacation days.
  • Relocation expenses reimbursement up to €3000.
  • Possible eligibility for the 30% tax ruling if you live 150km away from the Dutch border.
